Theatre Course Descriptions

Theatre 2

Students who take Theatre 2 will:

  • Theatre 1 is a pre-requisite for this course
  • Participate in multiple aspects of theatre production in order to create the OMS musical and/or play
  • Use elements of acting to collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
  • Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
  • Research and report on recent American live theatre shows and designers
  • Read, respond, and interpret theatrical scripts
  • Earn 0.5 Fine Arts credits toward high school graduation

Theatre 1

Students who take Theatre 1 will:

  • Be introduced to the history of American live theatre
  • Be introduced to theatre concepts & design elements in order to participate in theatre production
  • Participate in theatre activities in order to build trust and work with each other in the classroom
  • Collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
  • Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
  • Earn .5 Fine Arts credits toward high school graduation

Theatre Basics (6th Grade)

Students who take 6th grade Theatre Basics will:

  • Explore what live theatre is all about
  • Be introduced to multiple aspects of theatre production
  • Participate in theatre games & activities in order to build trust and work with each other in the classroom
  • Collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
  • Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
  • Learn theatre vocabulary and explore the elements of acting
