Theatre Course Descriptions
Theatre 2
Students who take Theatre 2 will:
- Theatre 1 is a pre-requisite for this course
- Participate in multiple aspects of theatre production in order to create the OMS musical and/or play
- Use elements of acting to collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
- Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
- Research and report on recent American live theatre shows and designers
- Read, respond, and interpret theatrical scripts
- Earn 0.5 Fine Arts credits toward high school graduation
Theatre 1
Students who take Theatre 1 will:
- Be introduced to the history of American live theatre
- Be introduced to theatre concepts & design elements in order to participate in theatre production
- Participate in theatre activities in order to build trust and work with each other in the classroom
- Collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
- Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
- Earn .5 Fine Arts credits toward high school graduation
Theatre Basics (6th Grade)
Students who take 6th grade Theatre Basics will:
- Explore what live theatre is all about
- Be introduced to multiple aspects of theatre production
- Participate in theatre games & activities in order to build trust and work with each other in the classroom
- Collaborate with others to create characters and scenes
- Create Slide projects to illustrate theatrical concepts
- Learn theatre vocabulary and explore the elements of acting
