Enhancing Student Health: OSD Introduces iPads for Real-Time Diabetes Management
Oxford Middle School Nurse Bailey Sardisco and a student with diabetes view real-time diabetes monitoring on an iPad.
Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford School District is proud to share an important advancement that has allowed our dedicated school nurses to track and respond to the health needs of students with diabetes in real-time. We have successfully implemented iPads at each of our nurses' offices to support the remote monitoring of blood sugar levels for those students.
Director of Health and Wellness Nurse Erin Siskey said “I just wanted to say thank you to Oxford School District for continuing to be a leader in education and supporting our nurses in providing the best and most up-to-date medical care for our students.”
Currently, every campus in our district has at least one student with diabetes. The integration of this technology helps ensure that these students receive timely and efficient care in responding to any changes in blood sugar levels.
This proactive approach to diabetes management not only enhances the safety and well-being of our students with diabetes, but also fosters a sense of confidence and security to their families, knowing their children are receiving timely and personalized care even at school.
We are grateful to have the technology and resources necessary to support each of our students with diabetes – and we are especially thankful to all of our dedicated school nurses who played a crucial role in implementing this.
This advancement highlights the Oxford School District’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all of our students.
