Recognizing the Impact of a Substitute Teacher at BES

Oxford, Mississippi — Every day in the Oxford School District, students are surrounded by people who encourage them, guide them, and help shape their educational journey. While teachers lead instruction, there are countless others whose support helps lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
At Bramlett Elementary School, the “Best of Bramlett” award recognizes staff members who go above and beyond for their school. Recently, that honor was presented to substitute teacher Mr. Michael Jovocich – fondly known as “Mr. Mike.”
After more than three decades as an elementary educator, Mr. Mike began substitute teaching at Bramlett last school year. Since then, he has become a positive and encouraging presence throughout the school. As a bilingual educator, he also helps create a welcoming environment for English Learner students who speak Spanish.
Originally from California, Mr. Mike and his wife, Trina, were first introduced to Oxford while their daughter attended Ole Miss and later chose to make the community their home. Today, both are investing in OSD students, with Mrs. Trina also beginning substitute teaching at Bramlett this year.
Together, they reflect the heart of a community that values its schools. Bramlett Elementary is proud to celebrate Mr. Mike as a recent Best of Bramlett honoree and grateful for the positive impact both he and his wife have on Bramlett students.
