Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) students are helping shape the future of the department through a new student advisory council designed to strengthen the CTE programs and elevate student involvement.

The council includes one to two students from each CTE program who were nominated by their teachers. With guidance from CTE leadership, students meet monthly to lead the conversation, bringing creativity, energy, and ownership to the work ahead as they explore ways to highlight program experiences and student pathways, as well as ideas centered on outreach, engagement, and program awareness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, students shared their plans and suggestions with the council, outlining strategies and next steps. Students are now working to help implement their ideas and will gather again in February to share progress and reflections.

The council’s work highlights the creativity, collaboration, and leadership students bring to Oxford High School’s CTE programs, and we look forward to seeing their ideas continue to shape and strengthen those programs.
